Pillowcases

Our relationship with DAIS started in 2013/2014 with our members making a custom quilt celebrating the "Dawning of a New DAIS" and the grand opening of their new shelter.

In 2015 we began an on-going project making colorful pillowcases for all the women and children served by DAIS. The first year we donated 229 pillowcases and in 2016 we donated 296, as well as boxes of toiletries and school supplies collected at our summer social. Our chapter holds workshops three times a year for members to make pillowcases and then members continue to make them in between. We generally deliver on or near the second Friday of even numbered months.

In the spring of 2016 our Outreach Committee met with DAIS to decide on two group stitch projects – "Around the Rainbow" and "Quaker Virtues" which members are currently working on to complete. When finished, these will hang at the DAIS facility.

Our Madison EGA Chapter continues to reach out to DAIS in ways beyond our bi-monthly pillowcase deliveries. Members have been working for almost a year on two group stitched pieces. We are pleased to share our joy in stitching as it supports our connection with DAIS and the important work they do.
