Welcome! We are your neighbors who come together to share our passion of decorative stitching, known as embroidery or needlework. Our chapter is made up of novice to experienced stitchers, all willing to share their knowledge and have fun. We even have embroidery teachers and shop owners who are invaluable resources right here in the Madison area.
In September 1977, approximately 85 people attended an organizational meeting led by Jill Siegler and Eleanor Bockheim, about establishing a Madison Area chapter of the Embroiderers’ Guild in America, Inc. Membership has fluctuated over the years from as few as 50 to as many as 200 people. Our current membership is approximately 75 people. We hold meetings twice a month except in July and December when we have social events. Our program meetings are lectures, hands-on programs with local teachers, or informal show-and-tell sessions with discussions among the membership…always with some kind of educational component. We also invite one or more national teachers for lectures or workshops.
