Russian Whitework

Natalia Sutyagina is a local emigre’ from Russia who was introduced to us by Madison area chapter member, Helene Georgalan. She has a collection of traditional Russian whitework which she has stitched and is willing to share with us and reflect on the cultural tradition of Russian embroidery. Members participating in this program are encouraged to bring and share their ethnic heritage pieces as well. Examples of work with Russian, Ukrainian, or other Eastern European traditions will be especially appreciated to emphasize the similarities and differences in these techniques.
